Mosquito Treatments for St. Louis, St. Charles and Franklin Counties

Mosquitoes are both a nuisance as well as a health threat. They can ruin your entire summer if they hold you hostage inside your home, afraid to come outside. With the threat of things like west nile virus, among other diseases they carry, mosquitoes can quite simply be scary to have around.

Our mosquito control program will place a barrier of microscopic materials around the outside of your home and the perimeter of your yard to kill mosquitoes that try to take up residence nearby.

We use materials that will cling to the surfaces mosquitoes hide on during the day and stay there until the mosquitoes arrive. By treating these areas, we can significantly reduce the mosquito population that may be living around your home. See our “What to Expect” page for more details on how we treat for these pests.

Our regular treatment program utilizes 6 treatments spaced between April and September to control these pests for the entire season.  These treatments, along with recommendations for habitat reduction or standing water treatments, will help you to feel safe in your yard again.

Ask us about our regular treatment program, your best bet to keep your yard free of these unwanted guests.

Mosquito FAQ

If you do not find the question and answer you are looking for please don’t hesitate to call us and we will answer all your questions.

How can you tell if mosquitoes are carrying a disease?
It is impossible to tell. You should use precautions such as store bought repellents.

MicroCaps original_High ResHow do the products you use reduce mosquito populations?
We will treat the landscaping around the perimeter of your home and yard with a residual material to help reduce the population of mosquitoes at their resting sites. This microscopic material clings to the undersides of leafy surfaces where mosquitoes will hide during the day.

I back to a pond, is there anything I can do?
We have treatments available for ponds, lakes, and other bodies of water. We can treat these mosquito breeding sites with a larvicide to prevent eggs from hatching and larvae from emerging as adults. These treatments are safe for fish and other wildlife as they are not pesticides.

Will treatments completely eliminate the mosquitoes on my property?
While treatment is intended to help reduce the mosquito population on your property, our program will not totally eliminate mosquitoes. Our mosquito reduction program is intended to help reduce the breeding and resting sites of mosquitoes around your property thus reducing, but not eliminating the opportunity of being bitten by mosquitoes.

Will this treatment work for other pests too?
This treatment which focuses on the landscaping around the house while designed for mosquitoes is also effective at helping to control other pests such as fleas and ticks. Many of our customers have also reported seeing fewer pests such as ants and spiders around their house as well. This treatment has also been found to be extremely effective at controlling Japanese beetles.

Besides ponds and streams, where else do mosquitoes breed?

  • Over-watered landscaping
  • Water gardens
  • Bird baths
  • Old tires
  • Flower pots
  • Tree holes
  • Pool covers
  • Urns
  • Rain barrels
  • Roof gutters

  • Abandoned swimming pools
  • Water troughs

How can I avoid getting mosquito bites?
Stay indoors during dawn, dusk and early evening when mosquitoes are more likely to bite.
Wear light-colored clothing, plus long-sleeved shirts and long pants for extra protection.
Use personal repellents on skin and clothing.
Protect your dog or cat with a product made especially for pets that repels mosquitoes.

What To Expect

Mosquito Extermination and Mosquito Control Services

new-mosquito-greenWhen we come out to your home for our Mosquito service, you can expect the following:

  • We will make an inspection of your yard to identify breeding, resting and harborage areas for the mosquitoes.
  • We will give you recommendations for projects you can do to help reduce these areas, such as draining standing water or trimming grass and bushes.
  • We will treat the landscaping areas around your home with a residual mist to kill mosquitoes resting there during the daylight hours.
  • We will go along the perimeter of your yard as well to treat these same areas. If you live near a wooded area, we will make an especially heavy application in this area.
  • We can as an additional service, if necessary treat mosquito breeding sites, such as ponds or small lakes with a larvicide to prevent future generations from breeding in standing water areas around the home.
  • You should expect a large drop in the number of mosquitoes that you see. It will be normal for some to still be around, but in far fewer numbers.

If at any time you feel like you are seeing too many mosquitoes, call us and we will treat your yard again at no charge. Treatments are limited to no more than once every two weeks by pesticide label directions.
