Blue Chip’s Founder: Scott Phillips

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that the founder of Blue Chip Pest Services, Scott Phillips, passed away yesterday morning after suffering a severe stroke last week. He is survived by his two children, Jeff Phillips & Kim Sieveking, and his 4 grandchildren. He was a great father and grandfather who led by example and valued family above all.
An avid member of the community, this veteran was very involved with the Chesterfield American Legion, the West Country Rotary, the Jaycees and various Chambers of Commerce around the St. Louis area. He left a big impact wherever he was involved.
At this time, due to COVID-19 and restrictions in our community, there will be no visitation or service. He will be laid to rest at New St. Marcus Cemetery next to his loving wife of 45 years, Pat Phillips.

Tick-Borne Diseases On the Rise

In the middle of this pandemic, more people are spending more time outdoors talking walking, hiking trails and enjoying parks. This increased outdoor time provides us with sunshine, fresh air and exercise but it also increases our chances of exposure to ticks. Reports of tick-borne diseases have been on a steady incline over the past few years. To make matters worse, some of their symptoms (fever, headaches and muscle aches, for example) are similar to symptoms of COVID-19. Protect yourself when you’re outside by checking these things off your list:

✅ Wear long-sleeves and pants whenever possible.
✅ Wear light colored clothes.
✅ Stay in the center of trails/paths, away from vegetation.
✅ Use an insect repellent with at least 20% DEET.
✅ Check your body & your pets for ticks when you return home. If you find a tick, here is a reminder on how to remove it safely:
