Yesterday the FDA approved the first human trials for a Zika vaccine. Within the next few weeks, two pharmaceutical companies will start testing this vaccine on healthy people in an attempt to prove that it’s safe & effective. While it’ll be months – maybe even years! – before this vaccine is potentially ready, it is a huge step forward in the fight against this nasty mosquito-borne virus that’s leading to birth defects.
