Skunk are one of the most easy identified animal because of their ability to spray a strong liquid odor from their behind. They are black with a white two white strips on the their backs.
The adult can range in size from 20-28 inch inlength and weighs between 4-10 lbs. They are omnivores and have very few natural enemies. They breed in February – April and give birth in May – July.
Not much as the only way to get rid of them is to trap. If you choose to go this route, be careful of the skunks spray when you try to pick up the trap for removal. Home remedies such as moth balls and ammonia rags are not effective.
Trapping is the method for control. We use specialized traps that keep use from being sprayed once the animal is caught. We set traps once we discover where the den is located. Once skunks have been removed then den can be filled in by the homeowner.
